Side Project Conference?

May 14th, 2008

Wouldn’t it be neat if there was a conference dedicated to everyone’s side projects? Bring in speakers to talk about the stuff they work on in their free time. There would definitely be some interesting projects… hmm…

I think this is a great idea.

I’m working on pyblosxom (http://pyblosxom.sourceforge.net/) on the side.

Even getting people to do 5-10 minute screencasts of their side projects and rolling those up into a site would be really interesting.

will, I like the website idea! Sounds like a fun side project. ;)

jresig pointed out that this is pretty much exactly what SuperHappyDevHouse is … just on a regular basis.

SuperHappyDevHouse sounds interesting. They link to DevHouseBoston and I’ve been to a couple of those and they seem less like “let’s do stuff with side-projects” and more like “let’s build rails apps!”

There’s some overlap there, I’m sure, but not with anything I’m doing.

Anyhow, a SuperHappyDevHouse around here would be pretty cool.
