OLPC fun

Monday, March 19th, 2007

I recently got my hands on two XO laptops (One Laptop Per Child), so I can help develop the XS (School server).

I got a kick out of the packaging, “DO NOT use in cribs, beds, or playpens.”

I’ve started to play with the laptops. So far, I have been able to get a proof-of-concept server build up. This involved learning a tool called pilgrim, tweaking my stream, and producing some builds. The build doesn’t do anything helpful at the moment (except git rid of all that sugar stuff… :).

Woo for progress!

Firefox lovin’ from the southwest!

Monday, March 12th, 2007

As promised, I’ve shot a bunch of Firefox related videos….

We’ve firefox-tattoo’d people on the face, neck, even the chest. Good (and sometime awkward) times!

On top of that, we’ve been collecting testimonials. While not all of them are positive, most of them are. We even ran into one of the co-founders of upcoming.org, and he seems to like firefox.

One reason SXSW is a “different” conference

Most conferences look like this….

normal conference

However, at SXSW, the venue is this:

Yes, that’s right, wordpress developers are equivalent to rockstars.

I love this show!

SXSW crazyness

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

So much to talk about … so little battery. This conf is nuts. Lots of people, lots of presentations, lots of shwag, lots of booze. Most of all, though, lots of Firefox fans!

Here is a quick testimonial. It was taken at 2am, at the world famous Best Wurst sausage stand. Austin ftw!

More to come!!!

SXSW + twitter!

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

This weekend I’m going to SXSW to help spread some Mozilla love. I’m guessing that it is going to be the perfect venue to twitter. So, if you use twitter, are going to SXSW (or just want to see what I’m up to), please add me to your twitter’s!
