Neat computer tricks
April 3rd, 2005Over this weekend I discovered two really neat applications.
1) iPhotoToGallery: This let me upload all of my photos directly from iPhoto. In other words, I was able to upload all my old photos from high school, including the photos from when I went to Vietnam (and Korea). Pretty slick!!
2) Sunbird + ical + webdav + phpicalendar: With sunbird I am editing and syncing my calendar to the web. phpicalendar then displays it for me. I have been looking for a calendaring solution, and it seems this will work. Implementing it was fun, but hopefully now I will use it. Check out my calendar (u: alex, p: polvi). I will probably change the auth soon enough for privacy… but I will let it run for a while and see what happens.
Wow, computers make life so fun and exciting……..

hey there,
I’m looking around for a calendar solution for myclimate (a climate protection organisation), and ran into your site looking for webdav and phpicalendar.
Does phpicalendar let you change entries online? add entries?
If not, do you know what other options one has to be able to use both client-side software (Sunbird, Ical) and Server-side applications to look at and edit the calendars?

phpicalendar, unfortunately, does not allow you to edit files. It is only a fancy ical file format viewer. I have been using Sunbird to edit the calendars. Apple iCal would work too, except that you can only edit from one computer. Hope this helps!
